Russia revokes accreditations of foreign journalists for May 9

Russia has revoked accreditations for foreign journalists to attend the May 9 parade on Red Square in Moscow.

Only representatives of a few Russian media outlets will be allowed to attend, as reported by Der Spiegel citing the Russian presidential administration.

"The format of covering the parade has been changed due to the current situation. Therefore, foreign media outlets that had already been granted accreditation will no longer be admitted," representatives of the Russian authorities told journalists. Specifically, invitations have been withdrawn from employees of Der Spiegel, media companies ARD, ZDF (Germany), and Sky (United Kingdom), the AFP agency, as well as Italian and Japanese broadcasters Rai and NHK.

Previously, Russian authorities had confirmed the accreditation of Western journalists and sent them the schedule of festive events. Later, the decision was reversed - this is the first time such a cancellation has occurred in the history of the parade in Russia, according to Der Spiegel. The exact dates when the invitations were sent and subsequently revoked are not specified.
