Three Turks from liner MV Hondius placed in quarantine in Istanbul

Three Turkish citizens from the liner MV Hondius, where an outbreak of hantavirus occurred, were delivered to Istanbul on the evening of May 10 and placed under home quarantine.

This was reported by the A Haber television channel.

The Turkish Ministry of Health previously reported that no symptoms of infection were observed among the citizens of the republic who were on the ship. It was also stated that no cases of hantavirus infection have been identified in the country so far.

Earlier, the Dutch Foreign Ministry reported that about 40 passengers, including subjects of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, passengers from the USA, Germany, Canada, Chile, Turkey and five other countries, after the death of a tourist from the Netherlands, left the liner MV Hondius, where an outbreak of hantavirus occurred, by disembarking on the island of Saint Helena.

Hantaviruses are a family of viruses that primarily affect small mammals but can also be transmitted to humans. In severe cases, the lungs of those infected are affected, and they develop heart failure and hemorrhagic fever.
