Armed individuals kill 30 people in Nigeria
Unknown armed individuals ambushed a highway in northern Nigeria, killing 30 people.
Agence France-Presse reported this with reference to a report on the security situation in the country prepared for the UN that it has at its disposal.
"Criminals ambushed the highway between the settlements of Magami and Dansadu (Zamfara state)," the agency quotes the document. "They killed 30 people, including civilians, many were wounded. Security forces struck back, destroying several bandits during the shootout."
According to preliminary data, the militants advanced from the forests near the city of Gusau.
Nigeria has been fighting terror for about 20 years, mainly in the north and northeast of the country. Since December 2025, the United States has been providing assistance to Nigeria in addressing this issue, sending several hundred troops, weapons and ammunition. However, the raids by extremists, mainly from the Boko Haram group, have not stopped.
