Azerbaijan enters the ranks of world innovation leaders in the field of cultural heritage
The State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture (State Service) has been declared the winner in the nomination "Best State Innovation in the Field of Heritage Protection" at an international competition organized by the influential British publication Global Brand Magazine.
As reported by the Ministry of Culture, the main factors taken into account when awarding the State Service were the creation of the information system "Unified Register of Culture," the integration of data on more than 3,000 immovable cultural heritage sites into a single digital platform, and large-scale work on the inventory and assessment of historical and cultural monuments in Karabakh and East Zangezur.
In this context, special note was made of the importance of applying the Geoinformation System, drone and satellite technologies, the ability to submit digital appeals through the MyCulture single personal account system, as well as ongoing efforts to ensure transparency, efficiency, and the formation of a citizen-oriented model of public services.
Awards in the "Public Sector" category were presented to such authoritative organizations as the Cabinet Office of Japan, the Federal Employment Agency of Germany, the National Health Service of the United Kingdom, the Government Technology Agency of Singapore, the National Cyber Security Authority of Israel, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Danish Energy Agency, the Investment Agency of India, the Municipality of Amsterdam, the Qatar Development Bank, as well as globally recognized megaprojects such as e-Estonia and Smart Dubai. This fact not only confirms the growing authority of the State Service in the field of cultural heritage management and the application of global technologies, but also serves as an indicator of the high international assessment of the institutional transformation, digitalization, and emerging modern model of public services in the field of cultural heritage protection.
It should be noted that Global Brand Magazine is considered one of the most influential international platforms for evaluating structures operating in the fields of public administration, innovation, corporate transformation, and institutional development at the international level.
This international success demonstrates that Azerbaijan’s state policy in the field of cultural heritage is based on strong traditions, sound management, principles of innovation and sustainable development, and also testifies to the formation in the country of an exemplary model of management in this direction.
