Media: Latvian prime minister announces her resignation
Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa announced that she is resigning.
She made the corresponding statement at a specially convened press conference, reported the portal of the national state radio and television LSM.
It was assumed that the prime minister would make a statement before parliament, but she, as stated in the report, instead organized a press conference in the cabinet of ministers.
The government crisis was caused by the resignation of Defense Minister Andris Sprūds after several drones invaded Latvian airspace on May 7. One fell in Rēzekne on the territory of an oil storage facility. The resignation of the head of the defense department led to the political partners who supported Siliņa stating that the prime minister no longer enjoys their trust.
