On May 16, the semifinal matches of the “Revival Cup” charity football tournament, initiated and organized by the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF), have been held.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of state institutions and companies participating in the tournament, as well as members of the football community, donors and partners of KRF, well-known athletes, and media representatives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, Rahman Hajiyev, congratulated the teams that advanced to the semifinal stage and wished them success in the upcoming matches.

The Chairman of the Executive Board also reminded participants that the funds raised through the tournament would be directed toward reconstruction and redevelopment projects implemented in the liberated territories. He expressed his gratitude to the participating teams and donors for the social responsibility they demonstrated.

Rahman Hajiyev then presented special gifts on behalf of the Fund to the finalists of the 2024/2025 season of the “Revival Cup” charity football tournament — Farid Huseynov, captain of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) team; Ramin Ismayilov, captain of the tournament-winning State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) team.

Special gifts were also presented to the heads of the companies represented by the teams that advanced to the semifinals of the current season — Jeyhun Abbasov, President of “Avrora Group”; Farid Huseynov, Chief Executive Officer of “Bir Ecosystem”; Dovlat Dovlatov, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of “Azerconnect Group” and Vugar Namazov, Chief Executive Officer of “Unicapital Investment”. The semifinalists were presented with paintings dedicated to Garabagh, created as part of a masterclass held last year for young Azerbaijani artists under the guidance of renowned German artist Inga Schmidt.

Following the ceremony, the semifinal matches officially kicked off. The first match featured “Unicapital” and “Bir Ecosystem”. Defeating its opponent 2:0, “Bir Ecosystem” secured a place in the final.

The “Azerconnect Group” vs. “Avrora Group” match was also held in an atmosphere of intense competition. As regular time ended in a 3:3 draw, the winner was determined through a penalty shootout. Showing greater accuracy in penalties, “Azerconnect Group” secured the second spot in the final.

As a result, “Bir Ecosystem” and “Azerconnect Group” will face each other in the decisive final match of the tournament, which will take place on June 6. At the same time, the other two semifinalists will compete for the bronze medals.

The “Revival Cup” charity football tournament is held at the initiative and organization of the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF), with the support of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), the sponsorship of “Tamstore” supermarket chain as the main sponsor, and informational support from “CBC Sport” TV channel.

The tournament, which initially brought together 40 teams representing state institutions and leading companies operating in the country, primarily aims to strengthen public support for the reconstruction process in Garabagh, while also promoting a culture of donations and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

The tournament’s main sponsor and participating teams have collectively donated a total of 115,000 AZN to the Karabakh Revival Fund. These funds will be directed toward the development of sports infrastructure in the liberated territories.
