Axios: Trump curses out Netanyahu over ceasefire breakdown

U.S. President Donald Trump used profanity during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to criticize the Israeli leader's actions in the Middle East.

This was reported by the Axios portal, citing sources.

According to their information, Trump called Netanyahu crazy and recalled his previous support for the prime minister: "If it weren't for me, you would be in jail. <...>. Now everyone hates you. Because of this, everyone hates Israel."

As noted, the American leader directly stated that he helped Netanyahu avoid imprisonment in a corruption case and predicted even greater isolation of Israel on the international stage as a result of strikes on Lebanon. According to Axios, the U.S. president was greatly concerned by the deaths of a large number of civilians, as well as the demolition of entire buildings to eliminate several commanders of the radical movement Hezbollah.

On June 1, the U.S. leader stated that he had reached an agreement with Netanyahu and Hezbollah leadership on a ceasefire in Lebanon. Following the phone conversation with the Israeli prime minister, the American leader stated that Israeli troops "will not be sent to Beirut."

Prior to this, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Tehran had stopped exchanging messages with Washington in protest against Israel's escalation in Lebanon. The U.S. and Iran were exchanging messages regarding a draft agreement providing for the extension of the ceasefire regime and the resumption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
