CNN: Tehran doubts reaching a deal with the US in the near future
Iran does not see “serious will” from the US side for final agreement on the deal framework, a high-ranking Iranian official told CNN.
He expressed doubts that an agreement between the US and Iran could be reached anytime soon, noting that serious obstacles remain on key issues such as Iran’s nuclear program and uranium enrichment.
Head of the Iranian parliament’s committee on national security and foreign policy Ibrahim Azizi said that “distrust” persists between the parties, and Tehran does not yet see “serious will” from Washington to finalize the framework of a possible agreement.
This comes amid another escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel after the sides exchanged strikes, which became the most serious violation of the temporary truce reached in April.
Recall that US President Donald Trump stated that the US and Iran could reach a settlement agreement in two or three days. “Two or three days. We have a good chance of doing it. Ideally, we should be able to do it in an hour,” he told reporters.
The American leader claimed there are no contradictions between the positions of the parties. “I don’t think there are any stumbling blocks. We are very close to concluding a very strong, powerful deal,” he said.
