Who the hell are you anyway?: spat between opposition and Alen Simonyan in parliament
At an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of Armenia on July 2, a verbal spat occurred between the secretary of the parliamentary faction of the opposition bloc "Armenia" Artsvik Minasyan and the speaker of the parliament Alen Simonyan.
Thus, the secretary of the parliamentary faction, addressing the deputy from the ruling party "Civil Contract" Tsovinar Vardanyan, stated: "Soon you will be deciding who gets bread and who does not. Who the hell are you anyway?" The deputy responded this way to Tsovinar Vardanyan’s "philosophical question" about why they (the opposition members) had come to parliament.
In response, Alen Simonyan called on Minasyan to show decorum.
Minasyan did not let it slide and asked Simonyan why he had come to the National Assembly.
"What do you mean, why did I come? I came to pay you salaries and bonuses," Simonyan parried from his seat.
