Iran-Armenia relations must be protected from external interference: Pezeshkian to Pashinyan

Relations between Iran and Armenia must be protected from external interference.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made this statement during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, according to Iranian media.

"Experience has shown that the presence and interference of extra-regional powers have not contributed to solving regional problems, and in many cases have only exacerbated existing challenges and increased instability," Pezeshkian said.

He noted that relations between Iran and Armenia have always been based on mutual respect, good-neighborliness, and common interests.
The President of Iran also expressed hope for the speedy conclusion of negotiations on a comprehensive cooperation agreement between the two countries.
In turn, Pashinyan emphasized that the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran is of particular importance to Armenia.
"We assure that Armenia has not participated and will not participate in any plans, projects, or actions directed against the interests and security of Iran," Iranian media quoted the Armenian prime minister as saying.
According to Pashinyan, Yerevan hides nothing in its relations with other states and is ready to discuss any issues with the Iranian side.
Earlier, the press service of the Armenian prime minister distributed a message about the meeting of the leaders.
Recall that Pashinyan went to Tehran to participate in the farewell ceremony for the supreme leader of the IRI, who was killed as a result of an American-Israeli strike.
