Son of Khamenei wanted to appear in public for the first time

New supreme leader of Iran Mojtaba Khamenei expressed a desire to appear in public for the first time at the funeral of his father Ali Khamenei, but the security service is refusing him.

This is reported by The New York Times (NYT) citing sources.
The newspaper recalled that since his appointment in March he has not appeared in public.
“[Khamenei] told officials that he wants to take part in at least some parts of the funeral ceremony. He would like to attend the funeral scheduled for July 9 at the Shiite shrine of Imam Reza in the city of Mashhad and read a prayer for his father,” the journalists write.

However, two employees of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) told NYT that his appearance is unlikely due to “fears of tracking his movements, which would lead to his hideout.”
The funeral of Ali Khamenei is accompanied by unprecedented security measures. In particular, the airspace over Tehran has been closed.
