Trump stated that Spain 'corrected itself' after threats to stop trade
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Spain "corrected itself" after he criticized Madrid for its unwillingness to support the operation in Iran and threatened to stop trade.
"We had problems, they still exist, but Spain corrected itself. I said that I would stop trade. They agreed to make a big payment, otherwise we would not even talk to them," Bloomberg agency quoted Trump's words.
The U.S. president had previously stated that Spain is not a good ally for the U.S. in the North Atlantic Alliance. Trump criticized Madrid for its unwillingness to support the operation in Iran and threatened to sever trade ties.
