28 people die in fire at shoe factory in China

In China, 28 people died as a result of a fire at a shoe factory.

The fire broke out on Thursday at 12:04 at the enterprise in the village of Jiangtou, located in the town of Chendai in the city of Jinjiang. Initially, it was reported that several workers could have been trapped inside the building or listed as missing.

After the incident, Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered large-scale search and rescue operations, to determine the causes of the fire and to hold those responsible accountable.

183 rescuers and 35 units of equipment were involved in eliminating the consequences. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of China and the State Fire and Rescue Administration sent a joint working group to the region.
