Britain hit by third extreme heat wave of the year

Britain faced the third wave of abnormal heat in 2026.

According to The Guardian, high air temperatures from 34 degrees will persist for almost the entire next week, which could make this heat wave one of the longest in Britain since 1976. The United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UK Health Security Agency, UKHSA) has extended the extreme heat warning to almost all regions of England, the newspaper emphasized.

Abnormally high temperatures have also affected other countries in Western Europe. On July 10, the newspaper Le Monde reported that the third heat wave in France began on July 4. The high temperature will most likely persist in the country until July 16. Due to the extreme heat, the Eiffel Tower, as well as the main Paris museums the Louvre and Orsay, will limit their hours of operation on July 11 and 12.

In the second half of June, Europe faced extremely hot weather. The thermometer in Western European countries exceeded 40 degrees. On July 9, the European Earth remote sensing and mapping service Copernicus confirmed that the past June was the hottest in the entire history of meteorological observations, with an average air temperature at the Earth's surface of 20.74 degrees.
