Number of deaths resulting from destructive earthquakes in Venezuela rises to 4333

In Venezuela, authorities continue to clarify the scale of the consequences of the recent destructive natural disaster. According to an official statement by the Chairman of the National Assembly Jorge Rodriguez, the total number of victims of the series of earthquakes has currently reached 4333 people.

The official emphasized that the process of identifying the bodies continues, and the identities of 315 of the dead have not yet been established at this time. According to the provided data, the number of injured in the course of the catastrophe has not changed and amounts to 16 740 people.

In the disaster zone, emergency services rescued 6462 people, however, the large-scale destruction of the housing stock led to the fact that about 17 000 residents of the country were completely deprived of housing and left without shelter. To solve this problem, the authorities are developing a plan for operational assistance to the population. Parliament Speaker Rodriguez added that the distribution of permanent and temporary housing among citizens affected by the tremors will begin next week.
