U.S. launches series of strikes on Iranian military targets around Strait of Hormuz
U.S. armed forces carried out a series of strikes on Iranian missile complexes, air defense systems, and military boats in the area of the Strait of Hormuz.
Axios portal journalist Barak Ravid reported on the U.S. Army operation, citing a high-ranking U.S. official.
According to preliminary data, the targets of the attack were air defense positions, missile systems, as well as small high-speed boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), located at several points around the strategic strait. The attack was carried out against the backdrop of another escalation in the region, during which Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that navigation along the international waterway continues, despite threats from Tehran.
