Azerbaijan was represented at the swearing-in ceremony of the President of Peru - PHOTO

In Peru's capital, Lima, the swearing-in ceremony of Keiko Fujimori, elected President of the country, was held.

At the official event, attended by high-ranking delegations from nearly one hundred countries, the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by our country's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Peru, Seymur Fataliyev.

As part of the ceremony, a solemn religious service was first held at the Central Basilica of Lima. Then, at the official ceremony held in the Congress of Peru, President Keiko Fujimori took the oath of allegiance to the Constitution and officially assumed office. In her speech, the new President shared her vision of the priorities for the country's further development and the main directions of the government's activities.

After the official ceremony, the President of Peru received at the Government Palace the heads of foreign state and government delegations who had arrived to take part in the ceremony.

During the reception, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan conveyed to the President of Peru the sincere congratulations and best wishes of President Ilham Aliyev. The diplomat also expressed confidence that the friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and Peru would continue to develop successfully.

President Keiko Fujimori expressed gratitude for the attention shown and asked that her sincere greetings and warmest wishes be conveyed to President Ilham Aliyev.

The meetings held as part of the ceremony were regarded as yet another testament to the mutual interest in developing political dialogue and bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Peru.
