Hikmet Hajiyev: The Israeli side took Azerbaijan's messages regarding the decision on the so-called "Armenian genocide" seriously - VIDEO

Azerbaijan has always considered the interests of brotherly Turkey a priority; for us, this has always been a "red line," said Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev.

Answering a question from the Turkish television channel Haber Global about the Israeli parliament's initiative to recognize the fictitious "Armenian genocide," Hikmet Hajiyev noted that as soon as this issue entered the agenda, intensive diplomatic traffic began in Azerbaijan on the instructions of the president.

"We addressed clear messages to Israel that the adoption of such a decision is, first of all, an injustice, that it does not reflect historical realities, and that we consider such a decision wrong. It is gratifying that the Israeli side took these messages from Azerbaijan seriously, and we believe that the further advancement of this issue was prevented. We believe that this would have been an extremely unjust step, in no way reflecting historical reality," Hikmet Hajiyev said.

The assistant to the president also touched upon the brotherly relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan:

"At a table where there is no Turkey, there is Azerbaijan, and at a table where there is no Azerbaijan, there is Turkey. We resolutely respond to every step directed against the interests of our countries, and this will continue to be the case."
