Gusein Gasanov sentenced in absentia to four years in a penal colony
The Presnensky District Court of Moscow has sentenced blogger Gusein Gasanov to four years in a penal colony and a fine of 1 million rubles, finding him guilty of money laundering.
The court reported this to TASS.
"The court decided to impose on Gasanov a punishment of four years' imprisonment, with a fine of 1 million rubles. The imposed sentence is considered to be in absentia. Its term is calculated from the moment of the convict's detention or his extradition," the agency was told.
During the closing arguments, the prosecution had sought six years in a penal colony in absentia for the blogger.
