Hikmet Hajiyev says his words were distorted in a Turkish media publication

Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan for Foreign Policy Affairs Hikmet Hajiyev stated that some of his remarks were distorted in an article by journalist Yılmaz Bilgen of the "Türkiye Gazetesi" newspaper, published on August 5, 2026.

"We had an interesting meeting with representatives of the Turkish media who are visiting Azerbaijan. However, I must note with regret that in the material published on August 5, 2026 by journalist Yılmaz Bilgen of «Türkiye Gazetesi», some statements attributed to me were presented in a distorted form. A number of expressions cited in that article as my words are not accurate.

I would like to emphasize once again that the Republic of Azerbaijan pursues an independent and principled foreign policy, guided by its national interests," H. Hajiyev wrote.
