Final decision announced in court on appeals of Armenian citizens - PHOTO
On August 6, the Baku Court of Appeal continued its consideration of the appeals of citizens of the Republic of Armenia Araik Harutyunyan, Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Davit Ishkhanyan, David Babayan, Levon Mnatsakanyan and other persons, against whom the Baku Military Court had handed down a guilty verdict for crimes against peace and humanity committed as a result of Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan, war crimes, including the preparation and waging of an aggressive war, genocide, violation of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, forcible seizure of power and numerous other crimes.
As AZERTAC reports, at the court session held under the chairmanship of Baku Court of Appeal judge Elmar Rahimov with the participation of judges Emin Mehdiyev and Mehriban Garayeva (reserve judge – Ali Mammadov), each of the persons in respect of whom appellate proceedings on the criminal case are being conducted was provided with interpreters into the languages they speak (Armenian and Russian), as well as lawyers to ensure their defense.
The court session was attended by representatives of the victims, prosecutors supporting the state prosecution – head of a department of the Prosecutor General's Office Directorate for Support of the State Prosecution Abbas Abbasly and prosecutors of the department of the same directorate Anar Alakbarov and Sevinj Gasimova.
Representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the session as observers.
The court's decision on the appeals of the accused persons was announced at the trial.
The court decision notes that the verdict of the Baku Military Court of February 5, 2026 in the criminal case against Harutyunyan Araik Vladimiri, Sahakyan Bako Saaki, Babayan David Klimi, Mnatsakanyan Levon Henrikhi, Ghukasyan Arkady Arshaviri, Manukyan David Azati, Ishkhanyan Davit Rubeni, Babayan Madat Arakeli, Pashayan Meliksat Vladimiri, Martirosyan Garik Grigori, Kazaryan Erik Roberti, Beglaryan Vasily Ivani, Balayan Levon Romiki, Alaverdyan David Nelsoni and Stepanyan Gurgen Gomeri has been left unchanged.
It should be recalled that according to the verdict of the Baku Military Court of February 5, 2026, Araik Harutyunyan, Levon Mnatsakanyan, David Manukyan, Davit Ishkhanyan and David Babayan were sentenced to life imprisonment, Arkady Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan – to 20 years of imprisonment, Madat Babayan and Meliksat Pashayan – 19, Garik Martirosyan – 18, David Alaverdyan and Levon Balayan – 16, Vasily Beglaryan, Gurgen Stepanyan and Erik Kazaryan – 15.
