BIG expresses solidarity with Indigenous peoples under French and Dutch rule
The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has issued a statement in support of Indigenous communities under the colonial rule of France and the Netherlands.
According to Report, BIG published the statement on social media on the occasion of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. The organization expressed respect for the resilience, culture, and identity of communities around the world, emphasizing solidarity with the Kanaks of New Caledonia, the Maori of French Polynesia, the Kalinago, and other peoples of Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Saint Martin, and Bonaire.
BIG noted that the languages, culture, and ancestral lands of these peoples constitute a living heritage that requires protection and justice. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the rights and self-determination of Indigenous communities as a key part of the global decolonization agenda.
