Presidential order: 258 million manats allocated to accelerate the socioeconomic development of Nakhchivan
President Ilham Aliyev has signed an Order on additional measures to accelerate the socioeconomic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The document was signed with the aim of ensuring, in 2026–2027, the expanded use of alternative and renewable energy sources in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the renewal of road, transport, and educational infrastructure, as well as the continuation of landscaping and construction work.
According to the Order, with the aim of further accelerating the socioeconomic development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a total of 258 million manats is envisaged to be allocated from the state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the budget of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for the implementation of the following measures:
- 66 million manats - to the Azerenerji Open Joint Stock Company for the continuation of construction and installation work on the Gilanchay at the Tivi hydroelectric power plant with a total capacity of 15.6 MW in the village of Tivi in the Ordubad district;
- 70 million manats - to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for the major overhaul of 2 intervillage roads, 5 city roads, and roads on the territory of 10 villages with a total length of 420 kilometers, connecting 26 settlements with a total population of 156,300 people;
- 25 million manats - to the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan for the construction of a dormitory with 1,000 places for students of Nakhchivan State University;
- 15 million manats - to the relevant city (district) executive authorities for the complete major overhaul of 92 residential buildings with a total of 2,164 apartments in the cities of Nakhchivan, Sharur, Julfa, Ordubad, and Shahbuz, as well as the major overhaul of only the facade part of 70 residential buildings with a total of 3,087 apartments in the cities of Nakhchivan, Julfa, and Sharur;
- 20 million manats - to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for the construction of 5 new preschool educational institutions with a total capacity of 640 places, including 100 places in the village of Bulgan in the city of Nakhchivan, 100 places in the village of Dasta in the Ordubad district, 100 places in the city of Sharur, 240 places in the village of Abraqunus in the Julfa district, and 100 places in the village of Garabaghlar in the Kangarli district;
53 million manats - to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan at the first stage for the purpose of renewing the intercity public transport fleet;
- 9 million manats - to the relevant city (district) executive authorities for the major overhaul of 45 heating boiler houses serving 5,335 apartments in 122 residential buildings in the cities of Nakhchivan, Sharur, Julfa, and Ordubad.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, the ministries of finance and economy, and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been instructed to resolve the issues arising from this Order.
