Gasparyan: Russian bloggers and journalists need to start thinking about what they say regarding Azerbaijan - VIDEO
Russian journalist and radio host Armen Gasparyan has called on journalists, bloggers, and members of Russia's socio-political community to take a more responsible approach to statements about Azerbaijan.
He said this on the air of the program "Solovyov LIVE," commenting on provocative statements that have recently been made in Russia's media and information space against Azerbaijan.
Gasparyan drew attention to the fact that harsh public remarks can have consequences and become a pretext for new diplomatic scandals.
"I have said many times that our bloggers in the socio-political space should at least occasionally ask themselves how their words will be interpreted. When they (Russian bloggers — ed.) made statements of this kind, they understood that sooner rather than later this would reach Baku and there would again be an international scandal," Gasparyan noted.
As a reminder, on August 17 the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan put three Russian citizens on the wanted list — journalist Ivan Knyazev, political consultant Semyon Uralov, and journalist Alexey Chadayev. According to the investigation, in broadcasts published on the internet they publicly called for violent actions against Azerbaijan, for changing the constitutional order, violating territorial integrity, inciting ethnic hatred, as well as for terrorism.
Subsequently, Russia's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, serious concern and strong protest were conveyed to the Russian side in connection with the provocative, insulting, and threatening statements that have recently been made in Russia's media space against Azerbaijan, its people, and its leadership.
