Pashinyan: Peace with Azerbaijan and Ankara will change the format of relations between Armenia and Russia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, presenting the government's program in the National Assembly, announced the inevitability of a transformation of relations with Russia.

According to him, this process is directly conditioned by the establishment of peace with Azerbaijan and the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, Sputnik Armenia reports.

The head of the Armenian cabinet emphasized the differences in the nature of bilateral ties under different geopolitical conditions:

"It is one thing — relations between Armenia and Russia in conditions of conflict, and quite another — in conditions of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as when there is no tension in Armenian-Turkish relations and a positive perspective is emerging."

Pashinyan noted that, due to objective and subjective reasons, cooperation with Moscow over the course of two centuries was built on the notion of Russia as the key guarantor of the security of the Armenian people and the Republic of Armenia. The prime minister added that he has no doubts about Russia's commitment to fulfilling these functions, however the events of 2021, 2022 and 2023 clearly demonstrated that Moscow "can sometimes have limitations in fulfilling this role."
