Tokayev calls for shaping a world order without a cult of force

Kazakhstan calls for shaping a world order without a cult of force and confrontation, and for enshrining the principles of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which have become a gold standard, in a UN resolution.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said this while speaking in Bishkek at a summit in the SCO+ format.

"Kazakhstan consistently advocates multipolarity, which strengthens the unity of the international community on the basis of the sovereign equality of states and the rule of international law. Our common strategic task is to shape a world order in which the cult of force and confrontation give way to the logic of mutual responsibility, joint development, and long-term cooperation," he said.

As Tokayev noted, the spirit of the SCO is an exemplary model of such interaction on the international stage, while the principles of equality and consensus in the SCO's activities have become the gold standard of successful development, multilateral cooperation, and genuine multilateralism. "Therefore, I propose enshrining the key principles of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in a special resolution of the UN General Assembly for the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace," the Kazakh leader added.
