Azerbaijan and Armenia agree to carry out delimitation work from north to south
Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed to carry out work on the delimitation of the state border from north to south.
As APA reports, this was stated to journalists by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
According to him, Azerbaijan and Armenia have reached an agreement that the process of delimiting the state border will be carried out from north to south, starting from the point where the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia intersect.
The minister noted that on the Azerbaijani side, the state commission on delimitation is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
"On the Azerbaijani side, the composition of the state commission on delimitation remains unchanged. The commission is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Shahin Mustafayev. Meetings of the commissions and discussions are held regularly. In Armenia, the relevant commission is also headed by a deputy prime minister," Jeyhun Bayramov noted.
According to him, over the past period numerous meetings have taken place between the commissions of the two countries, and a number of documents regulating the activities of the commissions have been adopted and approved both in Azerbaijan and in Armenia.
"There is an agreement regarding the direction from which the process of delimiting our common border should begin and then proceed. There is consent and mutual understanding that the work will begin from the more complex northern section of the border — from the point where the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia intersect — and will proceed from north to south," the minister stated.
Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that more specific issues will be discussed during the work of the delimitation commissions and their resolution is expected.
"As for more specific details, of course, all issues will be discussed as necessary and at the appropriate time, and it is expected that they will also be resolved. Issues related to particular settlements will be discussed within the framework of the work of the delimitation commission," the minister stated.
