Putin: Global South countries should be more widely represented in the UN Security Council
The countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America should be more widely represented in the UN Security Council, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, speaking at the BRICS summit in India.
"Despite attempts by some countries to replace it with some kind of order based on certain rules drawn up by who knows whom, we consider it necessary to continue working together with like-minded partners in BRICS to help improve the quality of the UN's work," Putin said. "Of course, this would be helped, in particular, by the expansion of its Security Council with representatives of the countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America," he emphasized.
