Hakan Fidan to visit Azerbaijan

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will pay a visit to Azerbaijan on September 15–16.

A number of high-level meetings are planned as part of the trip.

The visit program includes talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov.

The minister is expected to be received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Key topics on the agenda

Trade and economy: Stepping up joint efforts to reach the trade turnover target of $15 billion set by the leaders of the two states, as well as the implementation of projects in the energy and transport sectors.

Security and defense: Strengthening the strategic partnership in the military sphere and the defense industry.

Multilateral cooperation: Interaction on international platforms, primarily within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), preparations for the 13th OTS summit in Turkey, and coordination of positions on COP31.

Regional peace: Discussion of the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Ankara welcomes the historic opportunity to establish lasting peace and supports the development of good-neighborly ties.

Reconstruction of Karabakh: Turkey's support for initiatives to develop infrastructure and to open transport and energy corridors in the region.

The parties also plan to exchange views on current regional and international issues.
