Western Azerbaijan Community calls on Armenia to abandon the policy of "miatsum"

In Armenia, the unfounded hype surrounding the recent visit of foreign diplomats to the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation is not subsiding.

Such a reaction, which damages the process of peace and normalization between the two countries, indicates that serious hesitations still persist in Armenian society regarding a complete renunciation of the notorious policy of "miatsum," recognition of Azerbaijan's sovereignty, and living in conditions of good-neighborliness. The concept of "Real Armenia" put forward by Yerevan is in fact undergoing a serious crisis.

This is stated in today's statement by the Western Azerbaijan Community.

The authors of the statement note that in recent days there has again been a resurgence in Armenian society of approaches based on false history, false antiquity, and national exceptionalism: "Denying the history and culture of the Azerbaijani people, who possess a great history and a rich cultural heritage, is a fundamentally erroneous and dangerous policy."

It is precisely such a poisonous ideology and such approaches that over the past 30 years have drawn Armenia into the policy of "miatsum," created the groundwork for the deportation of Western Azerbaijanis from Armenia, the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, and the deliberate destruction of cultural heritage, including mosques. The consequences this policy brought upon the Armenian state itself and the Armenian people are well known to everyone, the statement emphasizes.

The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on Armenian society not to repeat the mistakes of the past, to put an end to attempts to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, to fully recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, and also to refrain from provocative actions that cause justified discontent in Azerbaijan.
