Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry condemned the statement of France's Foreign Ministry
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned and rejected the attempt by the spokesperson of France's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in a statement on September 17, to justify a travel warning regarding Azerbaijan with claims about the "risk of arbitrary detention and unfair trial."
The relevant statement was made by the spokesperson of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, Aykhan Hajizada.
"Presenting court proceedings carried out in individual criminal cases in accordance with Azerbaijani legislation on the basis of political considerations, as well as attempts to interfere in Azerbaijan's judicial system, are unacceptable.
The fact that France, in making such accusations against Azerbaijan, does not take into account the problems existing in its own law enforcement and penitentiary systems cannot be left unnoticed. Along with this, the activities of the French side in the field of violations of international law, racism, discrimination and the restriction of human rights are well known to everyone," A. Hajizada emphasized.
"We call on the French side to refrain from unfounded and biased claims regarding Azerbaijan, to respect the sovereignty and internal affairs of our country, and to put an end to approaches that damage bilateral relations," the statement concludes.
