Iran executes man accused of spying for Mossad

In Iran, Hossein Pedaran, convicted on charges of cooperating with the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, has been executed.

According to Iran's judicial authorities, the death sentence was carried out by hanging after it was upheld by the country's Supreme Court.

Iranian authorities claim that Pedaran passed on to Mossad information about military and missile facilities in Isfahan province, as well as information about the employees of those facilities.

The investigation stated that he acted for monetary compensation and used encrypted communication channels to transmit information.

According to the Iranian judicial system, some of the facilities about which Pedaran passed information to Israel were later struck during the 12-day war. It has not been possible to independently confirm these claims.

Pedaran's case had previously received almost no public coverage.
