Sergey Ryabkov: New meeting between Russia and the U.S. to take place in the coming weeks
A new meeting between Russia and the United States on eliminating irritants in bilateral relations is planned for the coming weeks. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said this to RIA Novosti.
“In the coming weeks (a meeting is planned – ed.),” he said, answering a question about when the next meeting on eliminating mutual irritants is planned.
According to the high-ranking Russian diplomat, meetings of this kind have to a certain extent become regular.
“We believe that this is useful. Another matter is that the pace of progress from a substantive point of view is lower than desirable and lower than expected. Nevertheless, we are not abandoning this, we will continue to move forward,” Ryabkov said.
At the end of June, Ryabkov reported that the dialogue between Russia and the U.S. on eliminating irritants in relations is currently at a standstill, but new expert consultations are possible before the end of the summer. Later, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that the timing of the next Russia-U.S. contact on eliminating bilateral irritants in relations is being worked out.
