Fidan: Turkey and the U.S. support the peace process between Baku and Yerevan

Turkey and the United States support the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and are also making every effort to reduce the risks of escalating tensions in the Caucasus and the Black Sea.

As Report informs, citing TRT Haber, this was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the panel session "Turkish-American Relations on the Threshold of the 100th Anniversary" in New York.

In his speech, Fidan emphasized the importance of cooperation between Ankara and Washington in maintaining global peace and stability. He added that the partnership between the two countries creates new opportunities for the development of the region and the preservation of peace.

Fidan also noted that the Black Sea region should not turn into a source of problems, but should become a platform for international cooperation.

In the context of a Russian-Ukrainian settlement, Fidan noted that Ankara continues to actively maintain contacts with both Kyiv and Moscow.

"We support dialogue and diplomacy to achieve a sustainable peace in Ukraine," the minister noted.

Fidan emphasized that against the backdrop of current geopolitical changes, it is necessary to build an effective partnership between global powers and leading regional actors.

The Turkish foreign minister noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hopes that his relations with his American counterpart Donald Trump will contribute to the further development of regional cooperation.
