Trump says Russia has lost control of its diesel sector

U.S. President Donald Trump published a post in which he stated that Russia has lost control of its diesel fuel production industry and again called for an end to the war in Ukraine.

"Unfortunately, Russia has lost control of its diesel industry because of the war with Ukraine. A significant number of Russian refineries producing diesel fuel have been blown up and, at least temporarily, put out of operation. This ridiculous and endless war with Ukraine must be stopped. The whole world is suffering: every month 25,000 people die, mostly soldiers. What a disgrace!" – he wrote on his social network Truth Social.

Trump's words were commented on by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He agreed that "this Russian war against Ukraine and against common sense must be ended."

"We have already put forward dozens of diplomatic proposals on how to end this war with dignity, guarantee security and prevent new Russian invasions. <...> Also on the table are ideas for bringing peace closer, starting with powerful de-escalation steps," Zelensky wrote.

He noted that Ukraine has advocated peace from the very beginning and is now engaged in dialogue with Trump and the United States.

"Ukraine's energy sector, critical infrastructure and our food exports must cease to be targets for Russia, and this will lead to similar de-escalation steps on our part. Solutions are possible. <...> It will no longer be the case that only the country that has been attacked suffers. The nature of war now is such that the aggressor will suffer as well. Technology makes this possible. The strength of countries' leadership can — and must — ensure de-escalation, security and peace," he wrote.

Zelensky noted that Ukraine is ready to work on finding a solution for a peaceful settlement, and that this issue will be discussed on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
