ICRC reports 275,000 missing persons in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict

The number of people who have gone missing during the conflict in Ukraine has reached 275,000.

Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), said this to Vedomosti.

These figures refer to people whose fate or whereabouts are unknown on both sides of the front line, and not only to citizens of Ukraine. At the end of August, the ICRC reported 274,000 such cases.

According to the head of the ICRC, the organization records on average 10,000 new cases per month. "Over the past four years we have made significant progress on humanitarian issues. I am very glad that we have managed to increase the number of answers received by families searching for their relatives," she added.
