Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Djibouti's Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations, noting the importance of continuing high-level contacts and political dialogue.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the trade and economic, educational, and humanitarian spheres, as well as to the effective use of existing opportunities.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on issues of coordination and mutual support within the framework of the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other multilateral platforms.

In addition, they discussed Azerbaijan's preparations for hosting the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 2027 and the country's upcoming chairmanship of the OIC.

The heads of the foreign ministries also exchanged views on developments in the security situation in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of reducing tensions and resolving the situation peacefully.
