Media: Hackers breached the FBI website

The ShinyHunters hackers said they had breached the FBI's website and stolen the data of most of its employees in response to the bureau's publication about the methods used by this international criminal group.

This was reported by the Reuters agency, citing representatives of ShinyHunters.

According to its information, on September 22 the hackers broke into the FBI's job vacancies website and stole the data of "almost all agents."

Members of ShinyHunters stated that they had chosen the FBI as their target because of its publication, made in May 2026, about the hackers' methods of operation, Reuters reports.

As proof of what they had done, members of ShinyHunters published a screenshot of the hacked FBI website, as well as information about approximately 5,000 agents. Reuters was unable to confirm the authenticity of the screenshot, but NewsNation journalist Hannah Brandt wrote on X that FBI representatives had told her an investigation had been launched after receiving information about "unauthorized activity" by ShinyHunters on the bureau's website.
