Iran's president rules out meeting with Trump
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is skeptical about the possibility of a meeting with U.S. leader Donald Trump.
In an interview with CBS, responding to a corresponding question from the journalist, he stressed that before discussing a personal meeting at a high level, trust must be restored.
According to Pezeshkian, the American authorities are "hard to trust" after everything they have done to Iran and its people.
"Every day they tighten sanctions against us. Every day they threaten us. Every day they strike us. And they do not observe what they have put down in writing. So if they begin negotiations, will they really fulfill their promises?" the Iranian leader said.
Pezeshkian noted that he needs to understand "on exactly what issue" the United States and Iran want to reach an understanding, when the American side does not observe the signed ceasefire agreement.
