Vučić announces his departure from the post of president of Serbia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he will leave the post of head of state and take part in the campaign ahead of the early parliamentary elections on October 25 as a candidate for the position of prime minister.

Earlier, Vučić dissolved parliament and called early elections for October 25. On September 14, he had already stated that he intends to run for the post of head of government.

According to Serbia's Constitution, executive power is exercised by the government, while the prime minister directs its work and coordinates the activities of the ministers.

An address by Vučić to the public was also announced on the official website of the president of Serbia for September 27.
