Citizens of Azerbaijan and Russia killed under an overturned truck in Antalya

Citizens of Azerbaijan and Russia were killed in a traffic accident involving a truck in the Manavgat district of Antalya province.

The women were at a public transport stop, onto which the truck overturned, the IHA agency reports.

The victims were 20-year-old Russian national Arina Dautova and 23-year-old Azerbaijani citizen Alena Dovgaleva. After rescuers lifted the overturned truck using a tow truck and heavy equipment, the bodies of the two women were found beneath it. After the scene was examined by the gendarmerie, a forensic physician and a prosecutor, the bodies were taken to the Antalya Institute of Forensic Medicine.

The accident occurred on the evening of September 27 on the Manavgat–Alanya highway. According to preliminary data, the truck was traveling from Antalya in the direction of Manavgat and rear-ended a car that was stopped at an intersection waiting for a green traffic light. After the collision, the truck overturned onto the stop located by the road.

The truck driver sustained minor injuries. By order of the prosecutor's office, after receiving the necessary medical care, he was detained by gendarmerie officers. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
