Gabala Strengthens Its Position as an Emerging Gastronomy Destination - PHOTO
With “Harvest Season” bringing together Gabala’s restaurants, orchards, farmers and producers, and the region’s cuisine gaining international exposure, Gabala is taking new steps toward building gastronomy as an important part of its destination identity.
Gabala is entering a new phase in its development as one of Azerbaijan’s emerging gastronomy destinations. The strategy brings together local products, farmers, orchards, restaurants and chefs, while creating new visitor experiences and gradually introducing Gabala’s culinary identity to international audiences.
The aim is to make gastronomy more than a restaurant experience — connecting food, agriculture, culture, nature and local communities, and making it an increasingly important reason to travel to Gabala.
“Harvest Season” Brings Gabala’s Gastronomy Ecosystem Together
Initiated by Gabala Hospitality Group, “Harvest Season” will bring together more than 20 local restaurants, selected orchards, farmers, producers and the Gabala market throughout October 2026 as part of a destination-wide seasonal gastronomy program.
Participating restaurants will introduce special “Farm-to-Table” seasonal menus based on products grown and produced in Gabala. Selected orchards will offer “Pick Your Own” experiences, including fruit and chestnut harvesting, complemented by traditional tea and other seasonal activities.
The Gabala market will form another part of the experience, giving visitors the opportunity to discover fresh local produce and connect directly with farmers and producers.
Together, these elements create a journey from orchard and market to restaurant table — transforming Gabala’s agricultural heritage into a visitor experience while connecting different members of the local gastronomy community within one destination initiative.

Taking Gabala Cuisine to International Audiences
Alongside developing gastronomy experiences within the destination, Gabala is beginning to build greater international exposure for its culinary identity.
From September 10–13, 2026, Gabala Hospitality Group chefs Elmar Aliyev and Rufat Aliyarov presented Gabala’s cuisine and culinary traditions at the Village International de la Gastronomie in Paris, where Azerbaijan was among the participating countries.
The participation also attracted international media attention. French publication Luxury Place Magazine featured Gabala in its coverage of Azerbaijan’s presence at the event, highlighting the region’s rich terroir and culinary heritage and the contribution of Gabala Hospitality Group chefs in presenting a cuisine deeply connected to its place of origin.
The international presentation and resulting media exposure form part of a broader effort to establish Gabala’s local products, culinary traditions and food culture as recognizable elements of the destination brand.
Building a Long-Term Gastronomy Destination
“Harvest Season” is intended to be part of a broader, long-term approach to developing Gabala’s gastronomy ecosystem rather than a standalone campaign.
The next stages will focus on strengthening connections between local farmers, producers, chefs and restaurants; developing new culinary experiences; supporting international exposure for Gabala’s chefs and cuisine; and expanding the destination’s overall gastronomy offering.
At the same time, a number of international gastronomy initiatives and potential collaborations are currently being explored, with further developments to be announced as they progress. Gabala Hospitality Group is also working toward bringing international restaurant brands and concepts by internationally renowned chefs to the destination over the coming years.
The long-term direction is twofold: to develop and celebrate what is authentically Gabala while connecting the destination with international expertise, concepts and audiences.
By combining its agricultural heritage and culinary culture with new visitor experiences and growing international exposure, Gabala aims to establish gastronomy as a distinctive and sustainable part of its destination identity — taking the tastes of Gabala to the world while bringing new gastronomic experiences to Gabala.
