Ilham Aliyev congratulated Xi Jinping on the National Day of the PRC
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to President of the PRC Xi Jinping on the occasion of October 1 – the National Day of the People's Republic of China.
The text of the message has been published on the official website of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
"We attach special importance to the development of relations with China – a friendly country and our reliable strategic partner. The high level of political dialogue established between us, mutual trust and mutual understanding, and the unwavering support our countries provide to each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity are the defining features of Azerbaijani-Chinese relations. Bringing our interstate ties to an entirely new historical stage – the level of comprehensive strategic partnership – is a vivid practical expression of our firm political will and joint consistent efforts," the Azerbaijani leader emphasized.
He noted that recently the chronicle of bilateral ties has been rich in important events:
"Our fruitful cooperation in the trade and economic, transport and logistics, investment, energy, agricultural and humanitarian spheres has developed dynamically, acquiring new content. The visa-free regime that has been in effect between our countries for a year now has, in turn, given impetus to the development of people-to-people contacts and tourism. At the same time, the 'One Belt, One Road' project initiated by you and consistently supported by Azerbaijan, including the Middle Corridor and other connectivity projects implemented jointly with the countries of Central Asia, serve as important factors of global cooperation."
The President of Azerbaijan noted that cooperation in the energy sphere between the two countries has developed and has now moved to a new plane. The effective activity of the leading Chinese company Universal Energy in the field of renewable energy in Azerbaijan, in his words, deserves high praise, and the recent opening of the "Gobustan" solar power plant built by this company is yet another example of the diversification of Azerbaijani-Chinese economic ties.
"I am confident that the Azerbaijani-Chinese friendly relations and comprehensive strategic partnership, which have an ancient history and good traditions, will continue to develop along an ascending line and grow stronger in accordance with the will of our peoples and through our joint efforts," Ilham Aliyev concluded.
