Trump threatens Iran with destruction
U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with Time magazine, threatened Iran with destruction, since peace with Tehran supposedly cannot be achieved.
During the interview, the journalist noted that Trump had previously said he could destroy Iran. "Yes, I would do it, it is possible," the American leader confirmed.
The journalist then noted that the president had voiced similar threats before, while at the same time calling himself a "president of peace." Trump agreed with that statement. Asked a follow-up question about how a president of peace could call for the destruction of "an entire people," the U.S. leader allowed himself to say that "by destroying Iran, [the U.S.] created peace throughout the world." "With Iran, I think there will never be peace," he added.
The United States and Israel began the war with Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes on Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached with regard to the Strait of Hormuz.
