Azerbaijani serviceman goes missing in the Lachin direction: criminal case opened

A criminal case has been opened over the disappearance of a serviceman in the Lachin direction

This was stated in a report circulated by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.

"Information has spread on some social networks about the disappearance of Musayev Nasimi Rasim oglu, who was performing compulsory military service in one of the military units located in the direction of Azerbaijan's Lachin district.

We report that on September 26, 2026, in connection with the absence of Nasimi Musayev from his place of service and the impossibility of establishing his whereabouts, a search for him was launched. The relevant forces of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out the necessary search measures.

In addition, an appropriate investigation was conducted at the Military Prosecutor's Office to clarify the circumstances of what happened. During the investigation, reasonable suspicions were identified that Nasimi Musayev had left the military unit without authorization.

On the basis of the materials collected during the investigation, a criminal case has been opened at the Investigative Department of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan under the relevant article of the Criminal Code. Currently, the necessary investigative and other procedural actions are continuing in the case.

As a result of the measures taken, it was established that Nasimi Musayev is on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and was detained by the relevant bodies of that country.

Currently, the relevant state bodies of Azerbaijan are continuing the necessary contacts with the competent bodies of the opposing side in order to clarify the circumstances of Nasimi Musayev's presence and detention on the territory of Armenia, as well as other circumstances of what happened," the report says.

It is noted that the public will be additionally informed about the course and results of the investigation into the criminal case in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
