New director general appointed at the Central Bank - PHOTO
A new appointment has been made at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
As the CBA told APA-Economics, Azer Aleskerov has been appointed to the position of director general of the Central Bank as of October 1, 2026.
It should be noted that Azer Aleskerov began his career in 1997 at the Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank. In various years, he held the positions of leading economist, chief economist, head of division, and deputy director of the department.
From June 2009 to October 2026, he served as director of the Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank.
In 2012, Azer Aleskerov was awarded the "Taraggi" medal for his services in the development of banking in Azerbaijan. He is the author of more than 90 analytical articles devoted to socio-economic issues.
