Ilham Aliyev attends opening of new building of Shamakhi European Lyceum

On March 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the new building of the Shamakhi European Lyceum, constructed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

As reported by AZERTAC, Assistant to the President Anar Alakbarov informed the head of state about the conditions created at the lyceum.

It was noted that the previous building, where the European Lyceum was located, was constructed in 1937. In 1987, the educational institution's building was renovated. However, over the intervening period, it had become unfit for use, and therefore, on the instructions of the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, a new building for the lyceum was constructed.

This general education institution, with a capacity of 1,200 students, consists of seven three- and four-story buildings. It is one of the largest schools in the district. The lyceum is equipped with the necessary furniture and equipment, and subject classrooms and laboratories are provided with visual aids.

More than 50 classrooms have been created here, along with physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, informatics and STEAM rooms, military training and labor education rooms, a medical point, a library, a canteen, an assembly hall, a gymnasium, and an outdoor sports ground.

The new building of the lyceum was constructed as part of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's program 'A New School for a Renewing Azerbaijan.'

It should be noted that the development of the education sector in Azerbaijan is one of the main priorities of state policy. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation makes a significant contribution to the work carried out at the state level in this direction. Under the 'A New School for a Renewing Azerbaijan' program, more than 500 schools have been put into use across the country to date.

The implementation of such projects, not only in Baku but also in the regions of the country, contributes to raising the level of education in the republic.
