Speaker of Armenian parliament to journalists: Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan - why do you say 'Artsakh'?
The Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, reprimanded Armenian journalists for referring to the Azerbaijani region of Karabakh as 'Artsakh.'
'Why do you say "Artsakh"? Then why does it upset you when some territories of the Republic of Armenia are given Azerbaijani names, for example, when Sevan is called something else?' Simonyan expressed his dissatisfaction.
In response to a remark that he himself once called Karabakh 'Artsakh,' the speaker replied, 'I was wrong.'
'In that case, I ask you not to be upset when, in some country, someone calls Yerevan "Irevan" or Sevan something else,' he said.
When journalists pointed out that 'Sevan is ours,' meaning Armenian, the speaker of the parliament responded, 'And Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan.'
