Vance: US believes ceasefire regime with Iran remains in place

The Washington administration believes that the ceasefire regime between the US and Iran is currently holding, despite isolated incidents.

This was stated by US Vice President JD Vance.

"As you know, with such ceasefire regimes, things do not always go smoothly. Sometimes people at a lower level do not maintain contact with people at a high level. Sometimes people make mistakes," he noted, commenting on reports of the interception of Iranian missiles.

"President [US President Donald Trump] has made it clear that if they open fire on us, we will respond," Vance added. "But if you compare the course of the conflict now with what the situation was five or six weeks ago, then I think the ceasefire regime established by the president is fully holding," he emphasized.

Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian armed forces) reported that Tehran struck an American airbase from which an attack on Iranian territory was carried out at night. The report states that after the strike on the facility near Bandar Abbas airport, Iran struck the US airbase. It was from there that American forces attacked Iranian territory, the IRGC notes.
