Pentagon chief: U.S. military spending in 2027 will amount to $1.5 trillion

The administration of the United States intends to spend $1.5 trillion on military expenditures in 2027 in order to create the so-called arsenal of freedom.

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth reported this at a meeting of NATO defense ministers held in Brussels.

"As you could see over the past six months, President [U.S. Donald] Trump is committed to increasing U.S. military spending: more than $1 trillion [will be spent] in 2026 and $1.5 trillion in 2027," Hegseth said.

"We will meet and exceed our own NATO spending requirements," the minister added. Before the meeting, he emphasized that Washington intends in this way to "send a signal to the world" that America is creating an "arsenal of freedom" — an initiative aimed at modernizing and accelerating the work of the U.S. military-industrial complex.
